Food is first love for some, an idea of a nice time for many and definitely an imperative need for everyone. But that is not all. Apart from relinquishing the urges of our taste buds, food plays a major role in maintaining and improving our wellbeing. However, not everything that shines is gold! Similarly, not every food is a healthy food. To throw some light on what to eat and what not to eat, we have comprised some healthy foods for you to have a go.

Water

Well, why not? Technically, water is omnipresent in our diets but the amount is what is of value here. In fact, a minimal amount of water leads to a diminished rate of metabolism in our bodies. When the water content is adequate, it forces the body to utilize more calories to keep its warmth.

 

 

 

 

Green Leafy Veggies

All of us have been educated in possibly our elementary classes to eat green vegetables because it improves digestion. But how many of us really implement it? The number is not impressive, people. The green leafy vegetables, especially the cruciferous ones, namely, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, etc. reduce cholesterol storage within the body and aid in the efficient functioning of the digestive system. Some of them are even prescribed as dietary inclusions to prevent dangerous maladies like colon cancer.

 

Fish

Aha, good news for the non-vegetarian blokes! Yeah, you can relish your delicious fishes but make sure they are the oily ones. I am talking about Salmon, Mackerel, Trout etc. These watery beings are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which in turn reduces chances of heart disease, improves proper functioning of the brain and maintain blood pressure.

 

 

 

Whole Grains

This is not a surprise to anyone. Whole grains rich in fiber content which demands more than usual effort from the body to break down. Thus, it drives the body to burn more calories than regular decreasing the chances of calorie accumulation within the body. This also means that extra calories in the form of fat will have a lesser chance of retention within the body leading to a more healthy form. Few grains you can have tried are oatmeal, brown rice, etc.

 

 

Lentils

This one is a biggie for the iron deficits. Generally, women have lower iron content leading to several unhealthy repercussions like fatigue, weakness, and irritability at times among many other issues. Lentils if taken in regular amounts every day, tend to increase iron levels significantly and therefore cutting down the pressure on your waistlines.

 

 

 

Green Tea

We cannot say enough about the magic blend nowadays. Green tea is a life saver nowadays. Very popular among the crowds currently, it contains a fat burning compound called EGCG. In addition, it is enriched with several nutrients and antioxidants. The healthy ingredients of green tea have shown to reduce chances of breast cancer, lung cancer, ovarian cancer and in some cases reduces even the growth of body tumors. Magic it is!
